11 Gaming Industry Quotes That Aged Horribly
6. "We Are Over-Delivering On Value"
Don Mattrick was the one who unveiled the Xbox One to the world at E3, and was also the main person journalists and gamers wanted to hear from when addressing concerns over the console.
Two such concerns were the fact that the console would always be connected to the internet and that every console came with a Kinect. Gamers were worried this could lead to an invasion of privacy and people spying on them through the Kinect. They were also not too keen to spend £100 more on a Xbox One than on a PlayStation 4.
In an interview with Bloomberg TV, Mattrick tried to address these concerns by stating they were over-delivering value against other choices. He believed they were delivering thousands of dollars of value to customers and that they would be able to see that value once they go the console.
This quote from Mattrick would age poorly thanks to the fact that the PS4 would outsell the Xbox One and it would then be widely criticised for having a lack of console exclusives.
Mattrick would also end up leaving Microsoft to become CEO of Zynga two months after these statements.
