11 Off-Map Video Game Secrets You Won't Believe
4. Wheatley - Team Fortress 2 (2007)
The character of Wheatley is one of Portal 2's most unexpected strokes of genius - ironically, of course, given his purpose as "the dumbest moron who ever lived".
Everything that voice actor Stephen Merchant comes out with is pure improvisational gold, and oftentimes you may find yourself lingering about in a test area just to hear the chatty personality core finish his piece.
So memorable was this character that in 2015, a community made map, PD_Watergate, was added to Team Fortress 2 containing a rewardingly nostalgic hidden easter egg in homage to him.
By clipping over the top of a pile of boxes against a wall and floating down, you'll find a flattened version of Wheatley (featured in-game already as the Ap-Sap weapon), and by shooting it, the model will begin to spew out some of Merchant's most hilarious lines from Portal 2.
There's not much more to it than that, but hearing those lines come from Wheatley himself away from his main game is still a nice little find for the nosy noclipper. You have to wonder if Valve even knew he was there at the time of the map's release.
