11 Types Of Players Everyone HATES In Multiplayer Video Games

1. The Troll

Some people just want to watch the world burn. Why? Because it's fun.

The Troll is an amalgamation of many of the previous entries fused together like a disruptive Vultron. Their idea of winning in games is to spoil the fun for everyone, even if it means they themselves don't win either. This toxic trait has been around in gaming for a very long time, and its evolution and resurgence has taken many forms, but the behaviour has ultimately been the same.

The Troll is the player who throws other participants to the side as they approach the finish line in Fall Guys. They're the one deliberately killing their own team members in a deathmatch. They're blocking other players from progressing through a map. Their actions are intentional and serve no other purpose but to inflict grievances with other players.

Their approach to gaming is not unlike kicking over a kid's sand castle at the beach - and while nihilism in that form is relatively transient, it does serve to continue reinforcing the stereotype that gaming culture is a spiteful one, regardless of how inconsequential outsiders might believe.

The Troll doesn't play games to have fun. They play so no one else can.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
