6. Saints Row 5

It's weird to think that it's been six years since we last got a proper Saints Row game. Sure, there was the Gat Out of Hell spin-off, but the franchise has pretty much sat out the entire generation, as developers Volition moved onto Agents of Mayhem, another anarchic open-world sandbox which... well, didn't quite have the same appeal as their previous series.

While it's a certified money-maker, you can see why they'd be hesitant to make a Saints Row V. The games got increasingly ridiculous as the years wore on, and there was the feeling that the devs couldn't top themselves, but apparently they have something up their sleeve.

Parent company THQ Nordic was doing the rounds in August, and revealed that Volition are currently "deep in development" on a fully-fledged Saints Row game. The publisher didn't confirm that it would be called "Saints Row 5" exactly, but did confirm that it wasn't simply a spin off.

Considering their choice of words, a proper announcement at the Game Awards before 2019 is out wouldn't be out the question.
