11 Unannounced Video Games We Know Are Coming

7. Dead Island 2 (New Version)

Now, Dead Island 2 is something of an anomaly on this list.

Technically the sequel has been officially announced, and even has a trailer that was shown off all the way back at E3 2014. The thing is, that's not the version of Dead Island 2 that's currently in development. Hell, there have apparently been two versions of the game scrapped since that trailer launch.

Going quiet immediately after its official unveiling, it was announced that original developers Yager had been removed from the project after creative differences caused friction between them and publisher Deep Silver, with Sumo Digital being drafted in to work on the sequel instead. That was the last update we had for a while, as executives confirmed that it was happening, but failing to show any official images or gameplay.

Then, in August 2019 it was again announced that the title had shifted developers, with Dambuster Studios taking over from Sumo to lead the project. How the game is shaping up, and whether or not it resembles anything found in that original trailer, is yet to be seen.

One thing is clear though: Deep Silver absolutely want Dead Island 2 to happen.
