6. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker - Monster Hunter Event
It’s clear when it comes to Monster Hunter, Capcom loves crossovers. Its recent entry Monster Hunter World is no exception, seeing numerous third party collaborations with Final Fantasy XIV, Assassin’s Creed and even The Witcher 3, letting let us hunt as Geralt or Ciri.
Felyne may have shown up in Animal Crossing in 2015 but five years previously, it was the turn of Konami’s Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. During 2008’s Tokyo Game Show, collaboration talks began with Hideo Kojima and producer Rouzou Tsujimoto, laying the groundwork for this crossover event two years later.
Within Peace Walker, we saw MH’s veteran adventurer Trenya appear before Snake, advising him of a monster-filled island. Choosing to go along with him, Snake then battles with a variety of established monsters, including a Rathalos and Tigrex.
It didn’t end here and when Capcom released Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, it contained several MGS items such as armour sets and downloadable quests. Snake has faced many challenges in his career but outside of Super Smash Bros, this may be his strangest yet.
