Sun Yi is the son who never got to Sun. Yes, he was Sun Jian's third son. Sun Jian set the groundwork for creating a southern dynasty, and then his eldest boy, Sun Ce – known as the 'Little Conqueror', laid the foundation for creating the Kingdom of Wu. Then Sun Jian's second child, Sun Quan, took over the dynasty and eventually created the Wu Empire. Sun Yi was only given a governorship because, though he was a great warrior, he was known to drink heavily and be careless.

So one night he went to a party that was being hosted by three men he had made enemies of: Gui Lan, Dai Yuan, and Bian Hong. As one might expect, he got drunk and careless, and Bian Hong followed him halfway home and murdered him. Bian Hong was made a scapegoat by the other two and they killed him before looting the dead man's house.
