12 Insane Links Between Popular Video Games You Totally Missed

1. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker - Assassin's Creed

Boy, Ubisoft's cloak n' dagger 'em up sure does get around - it seems other developers are just as in love with the hooded delights of taking out your targets and darting up the nearest building as everyone... used to be. Still, not one for subtlety - or even shying away from including another reference in the form of Monster Hunter's talking cat Trenya in a cutscene - in Peace Walker there's a killer reference to AC in that certain buildings you can clamber up will have small patches of hay on their edges. If you then approach them you'll get the prompt to dive into an 'Assassin's Straw Box', leading to the iconic eagle noise sounding out and support character Kaz Miller giving you some history on how "Back in the time of the Crusades, members of the order of Assassins to hide and get close to their enemies." You can then take the bale of hay and use it cardboard box-style throughout the level - a brilliant little touch that brings the two franchises together nicely. Are there any other times you've noticed a cool reference tucked away inside your game? Let us know in the comments!
