Every year there are a handful of indie games that want to be the next Journey or Limbo but ultimately fall far short of the mark. Rime is one such effort, a seemingly beautiful, poignant exploration adventure game, but despite its admirable 80 Metascore, it was one of 2017's most dull and uninspired indie disappointments.

With simplistic puzzles, chore-like gameplay, inconsistent visuals and an airless narrative, Rime didn't even begin to deserve the praise it received. It is a shockingly superficial creation and a prime example of how not all "minimalist" indie games translate to thought-provoking experiences.

And let's not even get started on that dumpster fire of a Switch port...
