6. L.A. Noire Remastered

When L.A. Noire Remastered was first announced for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC, it was met with a chorus of enthusiasm, as many presumably forgot just how tedious Team Bondi's 1940s-set noir action game really was.

Though L.A. Noire arrived back in 2011 on a tidal wave of hype, it ultimately fell far short of the mark due to its repetitive, tiresome detective gameplay, awful driving and shooting mechanics and bloated 20-hour campaign. It scored shockingly positive reviews from critics at the time, though its esteem has fallen somewhat in the years since release.

The remaster makes these flaws glaringly apparent once again, yet the game still received mostly strong notices from the gaming press and fans alike. Needless to say, those playing the game for the first time last year or revisiting it with rose-tinted glasses may have been surprised by just how much of a slog it really is.

There are moments of greatness, sure, and the voice acting is beyond reproach, but with so many appealing elements, L.A. Noire really should've been so, so much better.
