8. Halo 5: Guardians - It's Losing Its Identity
It's a weird time to be a Halo fan. With Bungie having moved on from the franchise to build something on its foundations with Destiny, which for all intents and purposes is just Halo without the epic story, 343 Studios has plenty of work cut out for them if they want to remind players why the series is still needed in 2015. Unfortunately, with Halo 5, it seems that the developers haven't really introduced anything novel or original into the game. With the addition of Call of Duty-esque perks, the ability to aim down sights and introducing what looks like smaller, more linear level design in the campaign, it's looking like every feature that made Halo so distinct in the first place is being slowly stripped away. So what we might be left with is a series that no longer stands out from the pack. At E3 there simply wasn't anything that blew gamers away in the demo that was on show; the scripted events involved he same running away from explosions we've seen in first person shooters forever, the 4-player co-op looked barely indistinguishable from that found in the upcoming Black Ops 3, and even the world itself was a far cry from the colourful and expansive vistas players are used to.
