12 Things We Learned From Nintendo's Super Smash Bros Reveal
6. Nintendo Will Rule The Online Community With An Iron Fist
Nintendo has made a lot of progress in improving its online infrastructure in recent years. Miiverse is actually a surprisingly pleasant, inviting and friendly community that's always willing to help gamers in need. It's perhaps the only online community not populated by 12-year-old's expressing their desire to fornicate with your mother. With that said, it's only that way because of an army of moderators keeping everyone in check. It seems that Nintendo will employ this philosophy with Smash's online as well. Sakura expressed desire to create an enjoyable experience for everyone, and this means clamping down on those that try to ruin it. Several repeated actions can earn you a temporary ban, such as: Starting and not playing. Relentless targeting of an individual. Repeated self-destructs. Frequent dropping. Cheating. Baseless reporting. The more that players get reported for breaking the rules, the longer their ban will last. Creating an online community in a game based around intense competition seems like a tall order, but Miiverse proves that if anyone can pull it off, it's Nintendo.
