12 Times Pokemon Legitimately DIED
1. Charmandertwo, Squirtletwo And Bulbasaurtwo (The Uncut Story Of Mewtwo's Origin)
Initially seen in the anime blasting out of Team Rocket HQ, the legendary Mewtwo was created by Team Rocket scientists tasked with creating the world's most powerful Pokémon, using DNA from Mew as the base. At the helm of the team of scientists was Dr. Fuji, who accepted the role with his own secret agenda.
Fuji's daughter Amber died prior to the events of the origin short played before the Mewtwo Strikes Back movie, and had tried for years to bring her back, starting with fruitless experiments in his basement. Fuji then uses much of the resources given to him by Team Rocket leader Giovanni to not only create an all-powerful Pokémon but to create a perfect clone of his lost daughter.
Along with Ambertwo and Mewtwo, Fuji created Charmandertwo, Squirtletwo and Bulbasaurtwo, all clone Pokémon that would benefit Giovanni's broader agenda of Pokémon domination. Sadly, as the clones were interacting with each other telepathically, they in succession began to fade away, with the sole exception of Mewtwo owing to Mew's immortal DNA. As the clones disintegrated in Ambertwo's 'Remember Place', the camera cuts back to Fuji's lab, revealing that their physical forms (and Ambertwo's energy pulse) had also perished.
