The third Pokémon movie (and arguably, the last really good one) cemented the franchise's trend of having armageddon thwarted by a 10 year old and his electric mouse.

The film opens with the Hale family with father Spencer telling his daughter Molly a story about the legendary Pokémon Entei, before he is called away by his assistant owing to a breakthrough in his research on the Unown Dimension. During his investigation though, Spencer is transported to the Dimension, leaving his daughter an apparent orphan.

Distraught by the event, Molly retreats to her room and starts playing with Unown letter tiles. The Unown tap into Molly's grief, opening a portal into her world and conjure up Entei, whom Molly believes is her father reincarnated. The Unown continually feed off of Molly's emotional state, and Entei obeys her every command, but as the film progresses and Molly finally becomes more coherent and calm down, the Unown lose control of their energy, causing the nearby area to crystallise.

Entei, assisted by Pikachu and Charizard and spurred on by Molly, finally breaks through Unown's barrier, dissipating their power which causes the crystal and Entei to slowly disappear before the Unown return to their dimension, returning Spencer in the process, who then reunites with Molly and her mother.
