2. Basement Crawl - PS4

Basement Crawl is such a blatant rip-off of Bomberman, it's hard to understand how the creators, Blooper Team, didn't get sued. I mean... it's literally just Bomberman, but without the charm, colour, replayability, or entertainment value.

It's challenging to harp on about Basement Crawl's failings, since it's so bare bones. The classic Bomberman series had so much variety, you could play it for hours. After giving Basement Crawl five minutes of your time, you've seen everything it has to offer, since the gameplay has no range.

If you thought the 8-player online mode could spice things up, the matchmaking loads slower than the Commodore 64.

The reviews were so overwhelmingly negative, Bloober Team reworked the game's mechanics into a slightly improved remake, Brawl, and released it freely to anyone who had the misfortune of purchasing Basement Crawl.

Although you have to commend Bloober for attempting to right their wrongs, it doesn't change the fact the developers cranked out Brawl to apologise for their failure. If a game feels like an apology rather than... a game, that's not a good sign.
