13 Gaming Heroes Who Sucked Next To Their Own Sidekicks

8. Jill Valentine (Resident Evil)

Resident Evil offers two story campaigns based around its two playable characters €“ Chris and Jill €“ with a variety of differences between the two. Jill is generally considered as the better option though (mainly due to a bigger inventory and the fact she was smart enough to bring a gun), which is great, because Jill's campaign features the best sidekick in Resident Evil history. You've probably heard some of the infamously bad dialogue from the first Resident Evil €“ "Master of Unlocking" or "Jill Sandwich" for example €“ but you might not know that those dialogue snippets all come from the same character: Barry Burton. Only appearing in Jill's story, Barry always arrives just in the nick of time to save Jill, usually by busting down doors or taking down zombies with three shots from a magnum (remember kids: conserving ammo is important). Barry even got his own starring role in Resident Evil: Gaiden for the Game Boy Color €“ though sadly, the game has since been declared non-canon. Here's hoping that the next Resident Evil game features Barry in a prominent role; maybe as a part-time detective that runs around yelling (in a poorly acted voice) "What IS this?"

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
