Would you kindly drop everything you're doing and play BioShock? If you're looking for some pure terror then you kindly would. But BioShock is far more than just a horror story. It's an interactive adventure that will test your morals while making the hairs on your neck stand tall.

Imagine exploring the ruins of an underwater city that has fallen prey to genetically mutated psychopaths with no moral compass. That's BioShock in a nutshell. All the meanwhile you'll come across nifty "plasmids" that rewrite your own DNA allowing you to use telekinesis, fire electric bolts, and more. You're gonna need these enhancements to survive especially when it you have to fight the big daddies.

The Big Daddy is that diving-suit beast pictured above. He has almost impenetrable armor and a massive drill for a hand making him one tough cookie. His job is to protect the Little Sister - a young girl genetically modified with use of a special sea slug. The crazed killers that roam the creepy Atlanteanesque city are hyped up on ADAM - a drug of sorts they can only harvest from the innocent girls. It's up to you whether you'll save the girls or kill them to harvest their ADAM to enhance your own abilities which provides the moral center for the story. Either way you're going to have to go through her Big Daddy first.

BioShock has amazing graphics, an award-deserving story, and is not just fun but quite scary. If you want your horror done differently but brilliantly then pick up a copy of BioShock and don't stop with the first one. The sequels keep up the innovation while building on the story and even allowing you to see the fallen city of Rapture through the innocent eyes of the Little Sister. If you've not touched the series yet you're missing out.
