13 Massively Hyped Upcoming Video Games That Will Totally Disappoint

9. Assassin's Creed: Origins

Assassin S Creed Origins Combat

Release Date: October 27

The Hype: Origins is the tenth main Assassin's Creed game and is being promoted as a return to form for the franchise after several underwhelming offerings, which caused the series to take last year off in order to re-evaluate what fans wanted.

The game serves as a prequel to the franchise, taking place in Egypt and depicting the beginnings of the feud between the Assassins and Templars. It will include a more open world, with only a few tall structures to climb, and a reworked combat system.

Why It'll Disappoint: It's incredibly likely that Origins is really just a "soft reboot" of the series at best, and a lot of fans' complaints, namely the repetitive mission structure and general lack of gameplay variety, are still likely to be present in spades.

Expect praise for the graphics, but probably complaints that the giant open world isn't populated with enough interesting things, and so it gets old pretty fast.
