5. The Nintendo Switch's Disappointing 2018 Lineup
After having an absolutely barnstorming 2017, the Nintendo Switch's second year on the market was a little disappointing, with a profound lack of meaty AAA exclusives, both in terms of first and third-party games.
The exclusive likes of Kirby Star Allies, Mario Tennis Aces and Super Mario Party turned out to be merely decent at best, while Nintendo Labo didn't become the breakout hit that many expected, and the overwhelming focus on ports only highlighted how barren 2018 was for the Switch's line-up of original titles.
It wasn't all bad, of course: we had Octopath Traveler, Pokémon: Let's Go and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but given the success of the machine so far and its insane potential, year two most often felt like a missed opportunity.
With 2019 set to bring the likes of Metroid Prime 4, Animal Crossing, Yoshi's Crafted World, a new Pokémon game, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Luigi's Mansion 3, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order and Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes, next year is at least looking brighter for the platform.
