14 Best PlayStation Games Of 2015

6. Bastion

Last of the older games that got a PS4 release this year, but Bastion really is developer SuperGiant Games' finest so far. Initially releasing in 2011, it sees you hop into the leathered-up boots of a young nameless boy, setting out on a mythical quest to restore the titular Bastion (a sort of hub-world environment packed full of life and item upgrades). It plays mostly like Diablo in terms of being an isometric shooter/melee button-smasher depending on how you spec your hero, but the most charming and impactful parts come first from Logan Cunningham's gravelly yet warm narration (possibly the coolest dude in existence at this point), and the immensely connotative score by Darren Korb. Bashing enemies' heads off with a hammer or twin-pistols is one thing, but when you've got a film noir-style voiceover commenting on everything as a Joss Whedon/Firefly-esque twanging guitar flickers into life every now and then, it helps exemplify why when it's firing on all cylinders, Bastion is pure gaming magic.
