14 Fan-Made Sonic Games That Succeed Where Sega Failed

3. Ripple Dot Zero

Pixeltruss's penguin platformer fell relatively under the radar upon it's release, garnering a whopping $10.90 in advertising money. That is an absolute shame. The gorgeous Mega Drive-style visuals, with a blend of Sonic's speed and sword slinging combat, could best many games on the Steam marketplace. Not to mention the killer soundtrack.

Playing as Ripple .0, a lab grown battle penguin (roll with it), you adventure through a sci-fi dystopia, slashing escaped projects and security drones as you quest to free your fellow brethren .1 through .8.

Power-ups such as a jet-pack and a blade boomerang allow you to explore further areas and find hidden secrets, which contain the keys towards freeing your friends.

The star rating system ensures you'll be replaying this game again and again for the best scores. Perhaps the best part yet? Not only is the game 100% free, but you can play it right now in your browser, entirely ad-free. No download needed.

Ripple Dot Zero can be played for free at it's home page, Rippledotzero.com.
