14 Most Memorable Closing Lines In Video Game History

1. "Sir, Finishing This Fight."- Halo 2

Halo 2 was the smash hit sequel to the original Halo, building on all of the strong points of the first game while adding new features in the continuation of Master Chief's journey. With a new game engine, the ability to dual wield, and even playing as a Convenant himself, it is no mystery why Halo 2 is the best selling game on the original Xbox. Packed to the brim with a perfect blend of action and story, the player guides Master Chief and the Covenant Elite Arbiter through 15 levels in the development of the massive Human-Covenant War. Naturally, in a game known for its brilliant theatrics as well just as much as its perfect gameplay, it is not a surprise that Halo 2's regular ending takes the top spot. After a long and tedious journey, Master Chief boards the ship Dreadnought in pursuit of the Covenant High Prophet Truth. MC has to leave behind Cortana, his trusty AI companion from the first game, in his pursuit, promising to return for her later while she states that he shouldn't "make a girl a promise if knows can't keep it". While this exchange is enough to give the player chills, it is only after MC arrives at his destination that the goosebumps are really raised. MC arrives at Earth on the Dreadnought, but because the ship is foreign he is targeted. Alerting Admiral Hood that he is there, Master Chief's purpose is question, with him replying that he is "finishing this fight" as the screen fades to black. While Halo 2 ends on a cliffhanger, the pure cinematic feel and mood somehow provides the perfect ending to the game. While it is setting up for a third game, the ending is emotionally driven, and will make even the most stoic gamer's spine tingle. Which other iconic finishing lines deserve to be added to this list?
