14 Most Memorable Closing Lines In Video Game History

2. "He Will Be A Shinobi."- Shinobi III: Return Of The Ninja Master

The last title in the original Genesis/Mega Drive trilogy, Shinobi III nails everything that made the first two games great: brilliant music pieces, amazing graphics, and smooth gameplay. The controls in game are super tight, which is necessary for the many challenges that occur in game. Controlling the titular Shinobi Joe Musashi, players encounter all sorts of enemies and bosses in their journey to defeat Neo Zeed, the protagonist from the first two games, for the final time. While the story during the actual game is barely touched upon, after the final boss battle the epilogue chronicles what occurs due to the actions of the hero. Following the action-packed journey of Joe, involving a battle with a mechanical dinosaur, a trio of robots, a fight with a Bird/Man hybrid whilst falling in a chasm, duels with multiple samurai that can create shockwaves from their swords, and the final encounter with Neo Zeed's final rebirth as the Shadow Master, the player finally brings peace to the land of Japan. Standing atop the mountain where he rests in between levels, Joe gazes at the destruction of the base while the game describes the aftermath, ending by saying that whenever there is trouble, a Shinobi will be on the ready. The overall theatrics and aesthetic style stresses the gravity of the event, and Sega flawlessly executes the ending with the phrase that ties the whole game together.
