MetaCritic Score: 70 What It Deserved: 53 Batman: Arkham Knight may have been a decent game on consoles, but the PC version was an unmitigated disaster right out of the gate. Thanks to performance issues which resulted in a dreadfully low frame-rate whenever the player entered the Batmobile, even on high-end systems. The port was so universally criticised that its PC release was pulled the day after initial release, with a major patch being released in late September and the game going back on sale in late October. It was also revealed during this time that Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment were aware of the technical issues ahead of release, but decided to put it out anyway. Even with the new patch, the game still doesn't work properly for many players, causing WBIE to offer refunds to all players who requested one until the end of 2015. It's disgraceful that a seemingly AAA title can release in such a poor state, and that the game still scored a solid 70 is proof perfect that critics went pretty easy on it. For the sake of comparison, the Xbox One and PS4 versions scored 85 and 87 respectively, but even so, Arkham Knight's intermittent PC performance really only makes it feel like half a good game, hence the proposed score of 53.
