MetaCritic Score: 84-88 What It Deserved: 74 Fallout 4 was one of 2015's most-hyped games... and one of its most disappointing. Most critics accepted many of the game's flaws, that the engine feels ridiculously out of date, the graphics aren't very good and there are tons of glitches, but nevertheless threw 9s and 10s at it for its addictive gameplay, customisation options and compelling story. This is a fine example of a good game that really needs polish to push it into the 80+ mark: it feels so un-refined, and to boot also features shockingly repetitive missions, not to mention a fairly down-the-line, familiar story. Is it a fun game? Yes, but it doesn't feel sufficiently evolved from Fallout 3 and New Vegas given its hefty development time and release on current-gen platforms. Even so, it's still not the year's most overrated game...
