14 Ubisoft Video Games - Ranked From Worst To Best

1. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory

It's not until you start putting together a definitive ranking of Ubi's finest games so far, that it dawns on you just how hard it is to crown one for the top spot.

I'm going with the third main Splinter Cell though, because never before or since have I come across a game that was so mechanically proficient, so perfectly balanced and experimental in just the right ways, that it felt as though the dev team were hitting the high point of their own careers.

Graphics were absolutely unbelievable for the time, as Ubi made a point of creating one of the best-looking titles of the decade. They succeeded, but that approach to crafting a game that would turn heads, extends to gameplay too. Sam moved with more grace and weight than ever, the dual-trigger idea of non-lethal/lethal quick-kills was genius, your options for loadouts before a mission encouraged replayability, and paths through levels also factored into this, years before Deus Ex: Human Revolution would do the same in 2011.

Chaos Theory holds up in every regard to this day. It's an outstanding example of the stealth genre, one of the most solidly playable and ultimately polished games Ubisoft have ever released.
