14 Ways E3 2018 Will Impact The Future Of Gaming
4. Indie Presence
Indie games have always been brought out at E3 to show how hip and rad the big companies are. They scream 'look at us, we're down the kids'. However, that doesn't stop them from often being the most interesting parts of the entire showcase.
Look at EA's conference (a company that doesn't really do indie). The highlight of their conference was a heartfelt explanation of an indie game by a passionate developer. It's often hard to see the heart and soul of triple-A games, but when you see an Indie developer talking about their game, you see drive and passion.
Which is why, even though there weren't that many, the indie presence this year was great. Giving more standing to the smaller developers is important, and their influence is likely to only continue growing. No longer will they be confined to quick 'blink and you'll miss it' montages.
