15 Batman Arkham Series Elements That Would Make Future Films Great
6. Batmobile Tank Battles
Much of the marketing material for Arkham Knight focused on the titular character of the same name and the identity of the individual behind the mask, but considerable emphasis was also placed on Batman's vehicle, the Batmobile, which players would be able to control for the first time after spending the entirety of the previous three games on foot.
Reactions were mixed. Though it was undeniably delectable to cruise the empty streets of Gotham, far too much focus was placed on a) forcing players to use the machine to solve puzzles and progress with the story, b) pitting it against waves and waves of drone tanks in a seemingly never-ending sequence of battles (how did the Knight afford these things!?).
Regardless of repetitive it eventually became, tank combat was enjoyable enough at first. Firing a machine gun, cannon and missiles against enemies seems like a gross violation of Batman's no killing policy, even if all of the vehicles he goes up against are conveniently unmanned (as the Knight knows Batman would never kill anybody, why didn't he opt for vehicles with drivers?).
A vehicle-on-vehicle battle would make for a terrific action sequence in a film. Though the Batmobile has previously been featured quite extensively, it has been primarily in chase scenes - seeing it square off against and conquer a tank would be an awe-inspiring moment.
