12. Yuri Lowenthal - Spider-Man (Spider-Man)

The PS4 exclusive Spider-Man was a highly entertaining romp through the streets of New York, as you seamlessly swooped between skyscrapers and searched out your favourite Marvel Easter eggs. The game managed to stick players in the midst of the titular web-swingers’ dual life issues, and while most will think of Tom Holland’s cinematic portrayal of the character, you should really be thinking of Yuri Lowenthal.

Awkward, friendly, humorous, and compassionate. Lowenthal’s portrayal of Peter Parker was one of the best we’ve seen. He manages to take all the traits that we know and love from the character and place them in the context of a young man with a few years under his belt.

Where before, Peter Parker was trying to assemble a life whilst taking on the streets of New York in this version, his secret occupation is the very thing that’s tearing that life apart. Lowenthal brought a regretful weight to the character, as he agonises over his divided loyalty to the mask and those he loves. It made each fight with the brilliant cast of villains all the more purposeful, and every personal trauma that more hard hitting.

The hospital bed scene alone (if you know, you know) is reason enough to see Yuri into the hall of great Spider-man performances, and warrant a place on this very list.
