15 BRUTALLY Hard Video Games (That Are Actually Fun)

7. Ring Fit Adventure

Ring Fit Adventure
Nintendo

On the surface, Ring Fit Adventure is your run of the mill, turn-based action RPG. There are levels that need to be completed, enemies to beat and a big baddy to chase down. It isn't very hard to work out attacks beat certain enemies and these grunts will typically go down without much resistance.

What makes this game hard, is how you play the game.

To attack enemies, you have to charge up and attack them with actual exercise. These exercises range from squats to yoga positions, all tracked and monitored by the ring fit controller and leg strap. At first, it all seems easy and fun. You have to jog on the spot to move around, do a few exercises to kill some baddies, happy days. Once you are 20 minutes in, doing your 100th squat of the session with your legs wobbling like jelly on boxing day, making the right decisions about what is the most effective attack for that enemy start to become desperate.

The satisfying thing about Ring Fit Adventure is how you feel after a short amount of time. Though your body is now a lifeless sack, at least you have helped save another world and got some cardio in for good measure.
