15 Good Reasons To Hate Modern Gaming

11. Bland Military FPS

I€™m just going to come right out and say it: I despise the Call of Duty franchise. Each year it continues to make gobs of money without any effort to innovate as Activision continues to run it into the ground. It makes no attempt to tell a remotely interesting story, as it knows that it exists purely on its multiplayer, which begs to question why they even bother. Worst of all, its success has propelled the industry into full on first-person shooter overload. Now every other game is a bland, militaristic FPS hoping to ride on the coat tails of Call of Duty€™s success. The genre is being sapped of any excitement one can have, as the market is oversaturated. It is even starting to infect other franchises. The Resident Evil franchise is the best example. One look at Chris€™s campaign, and you can see how Call of Duty and others like it have influenced its design. However, the FPS craze is actually only one aspect of an even greater problem, of which I will touch upon further down this list.
