15 Hilarious Voice Acting Fails In Horror Video Games
5. Clock Tower
Clock Tower for the PlayStation is the sequel to the Super Famicom game of the same name. A point-and-click horror title, its atmosphere and slow build-up were praised by critics. But because voice acting was still in its infancy during the PS1 era, this results in a lot of awkward performances in Clock Tower.
During the game's intro, the narrator starts off relatively decent but then the developers strangely put a synthesizer on top of his voice. He then ends up sounding like a Jeremy Irons impersonator with his delivery of, 'Who will make it through this game of murder alive?'
And the bad acting unfortunately continues even past the game's opening.
This is best seen when Helen discovers cameraman Tim hiding in the wine cellar. Rather than sound concerned about her colleague, our protagonist takes it all too well based on how she speaks.
Later, upon discovering Nolan Campbell inside a coffin, the man expresses his pain with such conviction by saying 'Ow, ow, ow.' The two then proceed to have a normal conversation as if encountering a man inside a coffin is a regular occurrence.
