15 Mind-Blowing Facts About The PS2

12. High Definition Gaming

It's pretty weird to imagine now, but the PS2 had limited support for full 1080i high definition gaming. This kind of resolution was actually only ever available for a handful of games, but included the likes of Tourist Trophy and Valkyrie Profile 2.

Incredibly, 1080i was also supported by Jackass: The Game, which seems fairly random! In the modern age, high definition has become the standard, but in the case of Valkyrie Profile 2 - a game released in 2006, it was HD come early for some players. Seeing these titles played out in 1080i greatly improves the graphics, and whilst the design has still noticeably aged, it brings a whole new lease of life, and opens up a wealth of possibilities.

Who knows if HD would have become the standard for the PS2, had Sony not put a lot of their eggs firmly in the PS3 basket.
