Although I'll believe when I see it, after more than five years in development, Kingdom Hearts III finally has a vague release date - but a release date nonetheless - of 2018.

The troubled sequel has gone through numerous changes since it was first announced, with the developers at Square Enix explaining that the shift to a new engine midway through production and a bunch of business decisions made by the publisher resulted in the game constantly being pushed back and retooled.

Apparently everything is smooth sailing now though, and with new trailers showing off brand new worlds that players can look forward to exploring, including a dip into Pixar's Toy Story, the long-awaited sequel is looking better than ever.

Whether the new Kingdom Hearts can live up to the hype it's gained for itself is an entirely different question, but at least it's one that should be answered before the year's out.
