15 Most Hilariously Written Video Games Of All Time

12. Psychonauts

Choice Quote: Dogen: And- and then you'll make their heads explode? Razputin: No! Do you do that? Dogen: No. Well... once, kinda. From Tim Burton to Tim Schafer, who is essentially the Burton of video games. If you're unaware of who Mr. Schafer is, he's one of the most gifted individuals in the history of gaming, heading up his independent studio Double Fine and producing some of the most consistently brilliant titles of the last two decades. Due to his proficiency at writing incredibly funny dialogue this list is going to feature some of his best works, but more on the earlier 2D stuff later, as instead 2005's Psychonauts is still one of the most underrated gems of the PS2/Xbox generation. In a plot that could easily have been a Pixar flick, the game sees you in control of Raz, a small insect-looking boy who's fascinated with becoming one of the titular characters. However he must first go through training as a 'Psycadet', which is where the game becomes a fantastic hybrid of every summer camp/high school comedy you've ever seen, using the most fun elements of sci-fi to tie it all together. Sadly the game ended on a cliffhanger that was never resolved due to the poor sales, but as Schafer and crew using crowd-funding website Kickstarter to retain full control of properties such as Broken Age and Massive Chalice, it's not too out there to imagine the team would revisit one of the games that made people fall in love with them in the first place.
