15 Most Underrated Video Games Of The Decade (So Far)
5. Metro: Last Light
Think you've seen everything a 'gritty first-person shooter' can offer? Think again, as developer 4A Games continue to iterate quite spectacularly on their Metro series, turning in the best yet with 2013's Last Light.
Sadly (but not really) 2013 was a phenomenal year for gaming, and in amongst Bioshock: Infinite and Gone Home tackling some new ground narratively alongside The Last of Us wiping the floor with any award show within earshot, there wasn't a whole lot of room left for Metro.
Luckily they've been remastered into the collective Metro: Redux where LL sits alongside 2033, a hidden gem from the last generation. Story-wise the Metro titles tell the story of humanity adjusting to life underground in a series of train-tunnels following a nuclear holocaust, and there's plenty comment on what human relations mean in a world devoid of it.
Alongside that, a string of ghoulish aberrations will shear you to ribbons should you go to the surface, but some meaty combat blends stealth and gunplay perfectly - complete with a shotgun-kick that could win the Superbowl tucked away for all those who liked Bioshock's straight-to-business combat approach.
