15 Predictions For 2015's Biggest Video Games

4. Tom Clancy's The Division Gets Graphically Downgraded

Ever since it was shown off at E3 2013, gamers have been desperate to get their hands on Tom Clancy's The Division, a massively multiplayer online third-person shooter revolving around a disease which destroys the U.S. infrastructure within less than a week. The player controls a member of The Division, a task force attempting to control the outbreak and save what's left of humanity. Though the MMO premise is divisive and could be hit and miss, what's really grabbed players about this game is the insane quality of the graphics. In the E3 demo, we see a player cowering behind a police car, and the particle damage to the vehicle, from bullet holes to shattered windows, is about as photo-realistic as we've ever seen in a video game before. However, as is distressingly common these days, and as Ubisoft caught plenty of flak for with Watch Dogs, rumours began swirling a few months ago that the final product would have its graphics downgraded in order to be better optimised. Though Ubisoft gave a soft dismissal of such claims, we're not ready to just take their word for it, and given the game's ridiculously high graphical quality, we wouldn't at all be surprised to end up with a game that looks significantly less-crisp than that beautiful original clip. As ever, we'll be crossing our fingers that we're wrong.
