If you own a PS4, there's a good chance you've played P.T., the "playable teaser" sneakily released onto PSN last month, a pant-wettingly creepy demo which, at its conclusion, reveals itself as a teaser for a new Silent Hill game, rather dourly titled Silent Hills. In addition to starring Walking Dead's Daryl, Norman Reedus, the game will be directed by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro, instantly giving Silent Hill fans everywhere hope that together they can resurrect the once-great series. If the later games in the franchise were wildly uneven, characterised by overly-loony plot twists and a greater focus on action over suspense, everything we've heard about Silent Hills suggests it's going back to the roots of the series. Going by the sheer terror induced by P.T. alone, it looks like Kojima is no one trick pony, and del Toro is nothing if not a canny choice to co-helm the project. As we're likely left a tearful mess after playing through it, we'll convince ourselves we're crying tears of joy for Silent Hill(s) being awesome again.
