15 Severely Underrated Xbox 360 Games That Deserve A Second Chance
12. Sniper Elite: V2
Ask any gamer and they will tell you that there's nothing quite like lining up the perfect sniper kill, be that online or off. The sheer satisfaction of taking the time to line up a shot, waiting, and then pulling the trigger for that one hit kill seems to earn more bragging rights in a multiplayer lobby than any other action could, but it's even better when you crank the realism up to 11. Sniper Elite V2 revolves around well, you guessed it, sniping. Taking on the role of an OSS operative deep behind enemy lines in World War 2, you must navigate sprawling urban centres, engaging in tense firefights that are won first before you even pull the trigger. Indeed, planning is just as important as execution in Rebellion's sniper series, and when that plan goes accordingly it's simply a spectacle to behold. Players will find themselves taking gravity, wind and distance into account to make their shots stay true, and the 'kill cam' that displays the effects of your handiwork is as brutal as it is engrossing. Sure, it takes the annoying American-centric approach to telling the story of the Second World War, but its gameplay is just too much fun to neglect it completely. If anything, Sniper Elite's biggest offence to critics was its historical setting, as sites and consumers continued to pan the oversaturation of WW2 titles in the run up to its release. However, with the military shooter climate now firmly entrenched in the future, maybe looking back to the past is what we need? Players seeking their sniper fix on current gen systems can also look for the splendid 'Sniper Elite 3', which features improved AI mechanics and a ferocious new enemy in Rommel's much revered Afrika Core.
