6. Silver Pines

2026 is serving up a few good looking survival horror games, and Silver Pines might be one of the more exciting, if nothing else but for its dark, moody visuals.

A 2D-side-scrolling Metroidvania that immediately calls to mind the likes of Alan Wake, what with its Twin Peaks-esque quiet town setting and downtrodden protagonist in a sweeping duster, Silver Pines is the first game from Swedish studio Wych Elm.

The game makes incredible use of darkness and light, as well as a dingy, limited colour palette to create scenes perfect for a horror graphic novel. It promises all the tropes of its inspiring genres - mysteries and clues to be uncovered, and limited inventory space to make its combat tense and restrictive.

Without a set release date at time of writing, Silver Pines is releasing on all formats later this year.
