6. Merging With The Blob - Inside
Inside is a confusing game. There's no dialogue, no revealing exposition and no hidden audio logs that suddenly make everything going on in the game's mysterious science facility make any sense. Regardless of this fact, there's always the faint feeling that the game's young protagonist has a destination he's trying to reach.
As it turns out, he definitely does. During Inside's final sequence, your character attempts to sneak into a large, heavily surveyed tank of water that appears to lie at the heart of the research facility. Breaking inside, the game suddenly deals an unsettling surprise, the centre of this mysterious enclosure containing a fleshy monster comprised of human body parts that our protagonist frees and suddenly merges with.
Before we know it, we're controlling the creature, breaking free of our confines and smashing through the research facility while leaving a path of destruction in our wake. Evading capture multiple times, the creature eventually breaks out the facility, tumbles down a nearby hill and comes to a stop in the sunlight.
Was the creature sentient? Were we the blob mind-controlling the boy all along? What was the facility trying to achieve? Questions come rushing to your head as the credits roll, the shocking ending both alluding to answers to Inside's biggest mysteries as well as adding reams of new queries alongside them.
