16 Biggest Video Game Plot Twists Of The Decade (So Far)

5. Andy Serkis Is Brainwashing Mankind - Enslaved: Odyssey To The West

Recently showing up in another of the site's lists about the best romances in video games, Andy Serkis and Lindsey Shaw's portrayal of brawler-with-a-heart Monkey and the feisty Trip is one of the last generation's most shiny underrated gem. Not only were some of the set-pieces downright jaw-dropping throughout, but the game's script (having been written by 28 Days Later-scribe Alex Garland) took a pretty unique twist on the post-apocalyptic genre. By going half-Matrix and half-Mad Max in it's disparate final moments, you get a trippy scene come the close of the game where a face-to-face meet with the real Andy Serkis details how all the slaves of the destroyed world before you are actually engulfed in a trance, consumed by memories of what we'd now call the present day. Trip ends up destroying the machine assumedly to force everyone to come to terms with the new world around them, but it's that first reveal where you see the real Serkis on a Fortress of Solitude-sized screen that'll totally blow your mind. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPk-cwMqDSQ
