16 Crucial Questions For 2016's Most Anticipated Video Games
13. Is Dark Souls III Easier Or Harder Than Dark Souls II?
Release Date: TBA April The Dark Souls series is renowned for its punishing (but largely fair) level of difficulty, such that fans have regularly debated which of the first two games is the hardest. Sure, DS2 is disadvantaged in this regard as more players will be going in having already played the first, but it's safe to say that both are brutally unforgiving, and the fans wouldn't have it any other way. There's no question that the upcoming third game is going to be another deliriously challenging experience, but will From Software find a way to up the frustration factor, or will players reared on the previous two games (not to mention Demon's Souls) simply be too capable to struggle with it? Prediction:Several play-tests have noted that the game's new Battle Arts mechanic, which allows the ability to pull off ridiculously powerful attacks, does make the player feel more able, even if the game's still no cakewalk. Expect the hardcore crowd to have a long, hard moan about the mechanic being "casual-friendly", but they might change their tune when some of the later bosses show up. In short, it probably will be a little easier, but it's still going to be brutal by any regular standard.
