8. Siren: Blood Curse
Switching gears to one of the best sub-genres of horror; Japanese. Taking influence from titles like Ringu (The Ring) and Ju-On: The Grudge, Siren sees a bloody eastern village beset by the evil Shibito - the name given to the once-normal villagers who are now out to do horrifying things to all your characters. The great innovation is using a unique ability called 'Sight-Jacking' where you 'tune in' to different peoples' first-person viewpoints, attempting to ascertain some idea of where they are in reference to yourself. Although this ability can be used to locate multiple playable characters, the real shocks and horrifying jumps come from assuming you're about to dive into the mind of a friendly, only to realise you're staring at your own character as one of the enemy, frantically trying to get out of the way as a Shibito lumbers in for the kill.
