16 Things We Learned From Gamescom 2015

1. Final Fantasy XV Is Coming Out "Before 2017"

Fans justifiably felt trolled by Square Enix at Gamescom, because it was widely expected (due to SE hinting as such) that Final Fantasy XV's release date would finally be announced. But no, some more gameplay was revealed and the game's director, Hajime Tabata said to Gamespot, "I think we'll be able to tell you when we're making the announcement around PAX Prime, at the end of this month." So read that right: at the end of August, Square Enix might be able to tell fans when they'll be making the announcement for the date of the release date announcement. So, what fans got at Gamescom was basically an announcement for an announcement for an announcement. Tabata did follow up with "We can certainly say to people: it's not going to be 2017. It's going to be before that", so short of a developmental disaster (a real possibility, mind), you'll be playing it in the next 12-16 months. After almost a decade, it's not that bad, right? Which Gamescom announcements are you most excited about? Which games can't you wait to get your hands on? Shout them out in the comments!
