6. Facing The Golyat - The Witcher 3: Blood & Wine
If you're anything like me - and Witcher 3's 25% completion stat assumes you aren't - revisiting the world of Geralt and all his friends after clocking the campaign and first chunk of DLC in 2015 was like reuniting with an old friend.
The White Wolf is his usual steely self, and no sooner have you met up with a couple of peppy knights ordered to bring you to the glossy region of Toussaint, that you'll be immediately be breathing in the sunshine and lilac flower beds.
Then... a huge troll-like Golyat crashes through a nearby windmill. Although it's easy four or five-times the size of Geralt and is about to slay some innocent bystanders, he promptly charges forth on his horse, hops off and brandishes his sword, ready to fight.
His expression, his immediate "Let's do this" attitude and the fact CDPR have revamped the game's tech to run way smoother and at a higher frame rate brings all this together like nothing else - the perfect "Yes, we know why you love this game" nod from one of the best developers working today.
