18 Greatest Video Games Of The PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 Generation
8. Mass Effect 2
RPG-hybrid games are all the rage nowadays. Bioware's adventurous third-person shooter RPG series could have fallen flat on its face but it did the exact opposite; Mass Effect became one of the biggest series in gaming. That's probably because it combines the two conflicting genres amazingly well; it simultaneously satisfies both RPG and shooter fans. A vital part of Mass Effect is player input; Commander Shepard's story is set in stone to some extent but the real beauty is the way the player can shape and alter his/her course to their desires. Various choices and decisions are made by the player which allow every individual playthrough to feel unique to the player; that's the real beauty of Mass Effect. Mass Effect 2's story might be too self-contained for some but it's still engaging and impactful. The shooter elements are massively improved from the first game and combat benefited from a streamlined interface and the ability to attach powers and abilities to the face buttons. There's plenty of great sci-fi worlds and settings to visit too; Mass Effect 2 gives you the ability to explore the galaxy and you'll grasp it with both hands.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
