18 Greatest Video Games Of The PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 Generation
7. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots
Metal Gear Solid finally arrived on the PlayStation 3 and it provided a fond farewell to one of gaming's greatest heroes: Solid Snake. Hideo Kojima's greatest creation might have taken on a more ancient appearance for his next-gen role but he proved that old guys can still kick ass. Metal Gear Solid has always been a cinematic series but long stretches of Guns Of The Patriots plays like a movie; still, the story and character development seen throughout is incredible. It has been called an interactive tragedy, something that fits the game perfectly. The gameplay refines the Metal Gear Solid formula while also adding in a few neat touches (such as the camouflage system and the new control system) that make it a blast to play; stealth gameplay has never been this exciting. It's impossible to fully appreciate Metal Gear Solid 4 without discussing the unbelievable final moments. The final battle with Liquid Ocelot is an incredible moment and the final farewell to Solid Snake is unbelievably touching, aided by the surprise re-appearance of a series favourite. Metal Gear Solid might have moved on but we'll never forget the gaming legend that is Solid Snake.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
