18 Reasons 2018's Biggest Video Games Might Suck
6. Loot Box Bulls*** - Call Of Duty 2018

Why It Might Suck: 2017 was dubbed The Year of the Loot Box by many, and among the major AAA franchises to double down on their commitment to micro-transactions was Call of Duty, which was widely lambasted for how aggressively it literally hurled loot boxes into last year's World War II title.
Well, it's hard to expect this year's Treyarch-developed Call of Duty entry to do anything except step the loot box nonsense up even more, which will be met with a chorus of derision, yet ultimately be drowned out by the millions of loyal players who continue to buy the game every year without fail.
The fact that last year's loot box controversy for CoD came and went rather quickly - thanks to Star Wars Battlefront II stealing all the headlines a week later - there's not really any financial or PR incentive for Activision not to ramp things up for the next game.
Why It Might Not: Then again, perhaps Activision will appreciate that they got a little lucky last year, and rather than risk derailing their own gravy train as EA did, maybe they'll keep the intrusiveness of their loot boxes at a plateau level for now, until the outrage machine inevitably moves onto something else at least.
