4. The Quake Theories Actually Being True

Not only have Bethesda resurrected Wolfenstein and DOOM in the last few years, but they've now rounded things out by doing the same with Quake i.e. the third true king of the FPS realm.

At time of writing it's little unclear whether developers iD Software are bringing Quake to consoles, as the announcement dealt in specifics regarding 'unlockable frame rates' and '120 hertz' gameplay (whatever that is - I'm a lowly console peasant).

Either way, Quake being back in action is a victory not only for the genre, but for old school gamers overall. It's a damn good feeling knowing that all three of first-person shooters' founding pillars are not only back in action, but better than ever.
